Replacement of the OPGW cable as a part of modernisation of the 220/110 kV Konin substation

At the end of September, on the 110 kV double-circuit overhead power line on the section Konin Power Plant – Cienin/Nowy Dwór, the #ZałogaEltelNetworks #TeamEltelNetworks replaced the OPGW cable.

The works were carried out from the gate in the Konin Power Plant to the tower No. 8. In this section, in span 2-3, there was a collision with the national road DK25, railway traction and 110 kV overhead power line. Prior to the commencement of works, all formal permits were agreed with the owners of the plots, a detailed traffic organization plan on the national road DK25 was prepared and we received permission from the owner of the railway traction for works within the railway tracks. In addition, before replacing the OPGW cable, the structures of the towers with numbers 2,4,5,6,7 and 8 had to be reinforced.

For the safety of the work performed, a longitudinal gate (i.e.  a remote-controlled robot with double rollers and an additional safety rope) was used while the new OPGW cable was pulled, which was to protect the new cable against falling on the railway traction, 110 kV overhead power line and the DK25 road.

We carried out these works as part of the task "Modernization of the 110 kV switchgear at the Konin substation", as part of the "Modernization of the 220/110 kV Konin substation" activities.
