The Energies journal (MDPI Publisher) has published an article entitled "Reduction of the Environmental Impact of Electric Field Generated by High Voltage Power Transmission Lines", discussing methods of reducing the environmental impact of HV lines. The article was created as part of the work of the AGH research team, which includes Rafał Tarko, Wiesław Nowak, Waldemar Szpyra, Tadeusz Wszołek and Konrad Kochanowicz, who is also an employee of Eltel Networks Engineering SA.

The growing interest in the negative environmental impact of high and extra high voltage overhead power lines results from the growing environmental awareness of the society. As a consequence, many appropriate legal restrictions have been created and active measures are being taken to reduce this impact, especially in the context of the electric field of the power frequency.

The aim of the presented article is to analyse the possibility of reducing the width of electric field influence zones by changing the design parameters of power lines and defining the spatial distribution of its conductors. The authors presented a comprehensive approach to reducing the negative impact of overhead power lines, taking into account both the electromagnetic field and noise generation, based on the example of two typical shapes of 400 kV line poles.

The results presented in the article may serve as valuable guidelines in the design of new power lines.
