Repair of a 110 kV power line in Mozambique

Following the failure of a 110 kV overhead power line at the intersection with the Zambezi River in Mozambique, last month Eltel Networks Engineering was commissioned to develop a basic design. The project involves designing a new section of the power line, in which the span over the river will be approximately 1.6 km. The scope of work of #EltelNetworksTeam is:

• verification of the power line route
• selection of the appropriate phase and lightning conductor (taking into account the span length and cyclones occurring in the region)
• preliminary design of a new crossing and end pole and their foundations
• development of assumptions for the line equipment

The contract additionally includes support at the stage of submitting offers, responding to contractors' technical inquiries and assessing contractors' technical proposals, as well as verification of the detailed design developed by the contractor.
